A Romantic Weekend Night for City Dwellers: Xinyi District’s “Free” Open-Air Cinema Debuts on the 16th

Watching movies on the grass in the city is no longer a dream. Xinyi Plaza, located at the intersection of Songzhi Road and Songlian Road in Taipei’s Xinyi District, will screen popular films for free from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on December 16 (Saturday). The public can sit on the lawn, enjoy the cool breeze, and watch *Paws of Fury 3* and *Star Trek III: Beyond the Stars*, making for a romantic date without spending a dime.

Zhang Xiu-zhu, director of the Nangang Park Management Office, said that Xinyi Plaza, located next to the iconic Taipei 101, is surrounded by department stores and is one of the most frequently used public spaces in Taipei. November’s “Taipei Nanshan Plaza Starry Sky Cinema” attracted many children and adults alike, and this year’s final starry sky cinema event will be held on December 16. The opening film will be the family-friendly *Paws of Fury 3*, followed by the classic sci-fi film *Star Trek III: Beyond the Stars*, specially produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of *Star Trek*. It’s an unforgettable weekend night for all.

In addition to great films, the event will also feature VR experiences allowing the public to enjoy bird’s-eye views of Xinyi District’s nightlife, prize quizzes, and a “Lighting Up Happiness” ceremony. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring picnic mats or cushions to fully enjoy the relaxed, open-air cinematic experience.
