"May Snow" is Falling: Six Camellia Viewing Trails in Taipei City Turn Snow White

As the weather warms up, camellia flowers across Taiwan are blooming one after another. The Taipei City Department of Urban Development has recommended six camellia viewing trails, all just a half-hour drive from the city center, allowing the public to enjoy the "May Snow" scenery without traveling far. The department noted that the trails in Wenshan District—Zhanghu Trail, Zhangshan Temple Trail, and Xianji Rock Trail—as well as those in Xinyi District (Hushan Jifu Temple Trail), Neihu District (Bixi Trail), and Datou Mountain Trail—are all popular spots for camellia viewing.

The department pointed out that the Zhanghu Trail, located near the Maokong Gondola Station, has long been known as the "Muzha Camellia Secret Path." Strolling along the trail, visitors can admire the snow-white camellia blossoms covering the trees on both sides, and when the breeze blows, the petals flutter down like dancing snowflakes. The Zhangshan Temple Trail not only offers camellia views but also provides distant vistas of Taipei 101, Datun Mountain, and Qixing Mountain, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of camellias and mountain forests. The entrance to the Hushan Jifu Temple Trail in Xinyi District, located in Lane 51 of Fude Street, also features camellia blooms.

The Bixi Trail, situated at the border of Neihu and Shilin Districts, features blooming camellias around the area of Stone Cottage. Snow-white camellias can also be seen in the woods near the entrance of the Datou Mountain Trail. The Xianji Rock Trail, about a 15-minute walk from Jimei MRT Station, is famed for its "He Xiangu Camellia Grove," a scenic highlight themed around the Eight Immortals. Additionally, the mountaintop offers a camellia viewing platform where visitors can overlook the white blossoms of tung trees on both sides.
