I’d heard about a grilled sausage and intestine street food stall under the Gaoping Road overpass. What made it special was that the intestines were stuffed with yellow soybeans. Not long ago, when I shared another nearby grilled sausage and intestine spot on my social page, a fellow foodie commented and recommended this one. Coincidentally, just a few days ago, my younger brother sent me a message recommending this very same grilled sausage and intestine stall. He even gave the exact location, which made it easy for us to find.

According to my brother, this place does brisk business and sells out quickly, so if you want to try it, you’ll need to be quick. The stall is located on the right side of the intersection heading toward Pingtung, right under the Gaoping Bridge. The vendor sets up just beside the traffic lights. It's a small triangular corner lot with limited space — there are only two small tables that can’t accommodate many people, so most customers get their food to go.
Here, the intestines are clearly handmade and stuffed, and their sizes vary. Normally, a place like this would hang a big row of sausages at the front, but this shop piles the intestines in the counter instead. I’m guessing their real specialty is the intestines stuffed with yellow soybeans.

Grilling the sausages and intestines over charcoal is naturally the most delicious way, and the vendor uses an eco-friendly smoke extractor to keep the smoke under control. You won’t see smoke flying everywhere, and it doesn’t bother passing motorcyclists either — they’ve got a great eco-conscious setup.

When we arrived, there was no line. We bought two portions to take home and share with my brother. One portion of grilled sausage and intestines costs NT$70. The one I’m holding is uncut — it’s quite heavy, and just the thickness of the intestines is as thick as my arm. That’s insane!! This portion was for my brother, and just eating this alone would be enough to skip dinner.
The other portion was requested to be sliced. Let’s talk about the sausages first — the fat and lean ratio is well-balanced, and the flavor is sweet and savory, about on par with other sausages out there. The vendor also gives you some cucumber slices and fresh ginger to go with the sausages or intestines, which adds a refreshing contrast.

But the real star is the intestines — the cross-section shows that besides glutinous rice, the intestines are also stuffed with yellow soybeans and some other ingredients. The glutinous rice is soft and fluffy, and thanks to the other fillings, the texture is rich and aromatic. My whole family couldn’t stop raving about it.

The stall is located right at this intersection and seems to only operate in the afternoon until they sell out.

Out of all the grilled sausage and intestine spots I’ve tried, this one has the most unique filling. Most places stuff theirs with peanuts, scallions, and oil at most, but I’d never had intestines stuffed with yellow soybeans before. It’s apparently a favorite among local workers, and counts as a hidden local delicacy in Kaohsiung. To avoid missing out, I’d recommend getting there early — once it’s sold out, it’s gone. These delicious intestines are definitely worth recommending.
