Singapore Airlines invests billions in hardware upgrades; 777-300ER fleet enhanced again

Singapore Airlines announced it will invest US$325 million (approximately NT$9.79 billion) to upgrade its existing fleet of 19 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with the latest cabin products, including improvements to seat comfort, space, and in-flight entertainment systems across all classes.

▲This upgrade will enhance personal space and audiovisual entertainment systems, with an estimated cost of US$325 million.

Singapore Airlines first introduced its new cabin products on the first of eight newly ordered B777-300ER aircraft received from Boeing in September 2013. Currently, some of the airline’s daily flights between Singapore and London Heathrow Airport as well as Tokyo Narita Airport are already operating with the new cabin products. The newly announced upgrade plan will equip all 19 existing B777-300ER aircraft in the fleet with the same new products. The work is expected to begin in early 2015 and all upgrades are scheduled to be completed by September 2016.
