Douliu Dessert Recommendation: Tian Tian French Pastry
“Tian Tian French Pastry” is located in Douliu’s Taiping Old Street, not far from Douliu Railway Station... Actually, I’m not very familiar with Douliu, but Sister Xuan knows it a bit better because she often comes to Douliu with her neighbor auntie to visit the market... The exterior of “Tian Tian French Pastry” is a cute cake-shaped building, with a base of pink and powder blue, giving off a very macaron-style vibe...

When we arrived at “Tian Tian French Pastry,” the shop was already full, and we had to draw a number... There were lots of balloons and ribbons at the entrance—it was obvious they had just opened... Curious, I asked the staff, “How long have you been open?” The staff replied, “We just opened yesterday!” (November 21) OMG... so new!

After waiting about 10 minutes, it was finally our turn. We ordered on the first floor and then went up to the second floor.

There were six types of desserts in the display case, all mainly tarts...

The rainbow cake and handmade cookies nearby also caught my eye!

Even the chairs are macaron-shaped—super cute!

The head chef is quite young, probably under 30 years old, and already holds a pastry certification from Le Cordon Bleu in Tokyo... Looking at related online news, the chef is originally from Douliu and had been developing their career in Taichung. They opened this pastry shop in Douliu just to fulfill a dream back home... (Actually, I’m more curious—where was the chef working in Taichung? They seem familiar...) It feels like Douliu’s pastry scene has really leveled up in recent years, with well-known shops like “Fami French Pastry” and “Taqite Qianceng Cake” becoming household names...

After ordering the desserts, we ordered drinks...

Then we could go upstairs... It’s so cute~ That day, we saw many moms come to the shop to buy cakes. When they heard they’d have to wait 10–15 minutes, they left... The reason for leaving was: “We won’t make it home in time to cook dinner!” Hahaha... Moms are truly amazing!

The second-floor decor is also mainly pink and powder blue, divided into several different areas, each with its own unique character...

Cute seesaw...

And I realized that I had dressed Little Cherry in a very macaron-like outfit that day...

Alright, the desserts are here... (We had to wait until all were served before taking photos, and only after the photos could we eat—such a long wait...)

A Touch of Green – NT$75

Personally, I love custard rolls, but I’m not a big fan of matcha. The staff said they use Matcha from Komachi-en, so I ordered it... The cake part had a slight dried-out look, which was a bit of a shame, but the cream was very refreshing, not overly sweet, and had a delicate texture. For the price, I’d say it performed OK!I thought kids wouldn’t dare to eat matcha-flavored things, but during our trip to Uji, Kyoto, I discovered that Little Cherry is actually a total matcha lover—whether it’s matcha ramen, matcha cookies, or matcha ice cream, she loves them all... This day, she finished the entire matcha custard roll by herself. At that moment, I thought, having a daughter is great—she’s my perfect afternoon tea buddy. Mommy loves you so much!

Osmanthus Lemon Tart – NT$90

This one was ordered by mom. I thought elderly people might not enjoy sour flavors, but she specifically asked for the lemon tart... Lemon tarts are common, but this one has osmanthus on top—how special is that? The tart base is very crispy, not greasy, and has a hint of milk fragrance. I really like this texture. The lemon curd isn’t too acidic—if you’re someone who loves sour flavors, you might find it a bit mild—but for most people, the acidity is just right. With the added touch of osmanthus aroma, it becomes truly outstanding...

Melon Custard Tart – NT$130

Seeing this fresh melon made it look so cute and appealing. This one was actually picked by Little Cherry from the display case! The tart base is also very crispy, the custard is refreshing and not too sweet, the melon is fresh and juicy—I liked this one too...

Fig and Orange Tart – NT$140

This one wasn’t originally on our list, but Little Cherry insisted on having it... (In truth, she probably wanted to try every single one, right?!)This dish originally had no highlights, but Little Cherry said she wanted to eat it... (Actually, she probably wants to eat every dish, right?!)

The base of this tart is different from the others—it has a softer, more tender and rich texture, and it seems to have nuts inside… (not sure!?). The figs on top are very fresh, but out of the five desserts we had that day, this one was relatively less popular—I didn’t really like it, and neither did my mom…

Blueberry Tart - $140 NTDIf you have trypophobia, seeing this mountain of blueberries might just trigger it, huh?

The cream here is also very light and refreshing, making it smooth to eat. The blueberries are fresh and not mushy at all, and the base is just as crisp. I really loved this one too…

A Cow Lives Here (Latte) - $110 NTDIt’s pretty average in taste, but the message on top is adorable: “Missing out is a blessing, meeting is too~”

Rose Apple Vinegar - $90 NTDMy mom ordered this. When I asked her how it tasted, she said, “Sweet and sour…” (Okay, not very helpful, I know!)
Overall, “Tian Tian French Pastry” delivers excellent pastries, along with a comfortable atmosphere and great service—no wonder there was already a line when it first opened…
