Fulong Beach celebrated its 60th birthday today (June 22)! To mark this important occasion, the Northeast Coast & Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications launched a “search for people” campaign, inviting a senior couple surnamed Xu who share the same birth date to celebrate their birthday on-site. A sand-sculpted birthday cake was also presented to mark the occasion. In collaboration with Fulong Elementary School, a spectacular 100-meter sand painting land art was created. Additionally, the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival announced today that its exhibition period has been extended to July 16—miss it this year and you’ll have to wait another ten years!

Fulong Beach has been selected as one of the world’s top 100 must-visit destinations. With its crystal-clear blue waters and miles of golden sandy shores, it is currently hosting the 2017 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival. Due to an enthusiastic response from visitors, the event has been extended to July 16. This year marks the 10th edition of the festival. To celebrate this milestone, the site features Taiwan’s tallest 13-meter castle sculpture, along with a variety of sand artworks created by 22 sculptors from 13 countries. To honor Fulong Beach’s 60th birthday, lucky guests with the characters “Fu” (福) or “Long” (隆) in their names can enjoy free admission by presenting their ID cards.
