The world’s largest furniture retailer “IKEA,” originating from Sweden, recently announced that it will transform the site of its first store in Älmhult, Sweden, into the first-everIKEA Museum, which is expected to open in 2015.

Michele Acuna, who will be in charge of museum operations, told AFP that IKEA, which has a history of over 70 years and stores all over the world, moved its first store to a new location in 2012. This provided an opportunity to repurpose the old store into a museum that showcases IKEA’s journey over the past 70 years.

Michele Acuna stated that many people are very interested in IKEA’s development history. Therefore, once the museum opens, it will not only display the evolution of product development but also introduce IKEA’s expansion across the globe and the key figures involved. Michele Acuna believes that showcasing these historical milestones will bring a lot of fun and engaging experiences for visitors, and he hopes the museum will attract around 200,000 visitors annually after its opening.
