The straight road stretches endlessly toward the sky. The most famous attractions in Chihshang, Taitung—“Bolan Boulevard,” “Heaven’s Road,” and the nearby Futzhen scenic views—are endlessly captivating. Not only were they approved in late April as part of Taitung’s “cultural assets,” but now the Taitung County Government also plans to enforce vehicle restrictions across the entire area. In the future, visitors taking scenic photos here won’t have vehicles in their shots, a move that netizens widely support.

Chen Shu-hui, director of the Taitung County Government’s Tourism and Travel Division, stated that the county government believes such stunning natural scenery deserves preservation. Out of respect for local culture, reducing vehicle traffic and maintaining a beautiful, comfortable environment is essential. On the 27th, the Taitung County Government’s Tourism and Travel Division, along with Chihshang Township Mayor, representatives, the Community Development Association, village chiefs, the farmers’ association, bus operators, the vehicle inspection station, and police, discussed plans for vehicle control. A preliminary consensus has been reached, with full implementation expected around the summer vacation.

Chen Shu-hui further explained that since the roads in the area still cover considerable distances, implementing vehicle restrictions could cause inconvenience for the elderly, weak, women, and children. Therefore, the county government has proposed a shuttle bus plan. In the future, the Bolan Boulevard and Heaven’s Road areas will operate shuttle buses under the concept of a “garden sightseeing vehicle.” This approach not only protects the environment and is more traveler-friendly for those with mobility issues, but also helps preserve the area’s natural landscape in perpetuity, allowing visitors to capture the most natural and unspoiled scenes.
