Stay in the resort and enjoy fireflies right in the park – a new eco-friendly accommodation near Sun Moon Lake

Combining ecological tours with the hospitality industry could spark a unique travel experience different from typical resort stays. Located near Sun Moon Lake, a new-style hotel officially launched in 2014 has been reimagined from the former "Bamboo & Stone Garden Eco-Learning Center" in the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Management Office. By integrating guided ecological tours with lodging, visitors to Sun Moon Lake can now have the chance to see fireflies directly from within the hotel.

Originally an important bamboo cultivation site managed by the Forestry Bureau, at the end of last year, Fulinf Gardening Co., Ltd. officially took over the planning of the Bamboo & Stone Garden Eco Park from the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Management Office. The resort was officially named the "Bamboo & Stone Garden Eco Resort." Inside the park, you can see a large number of bamboos and stones maintained by the Forestry Bureau. Nature-loving guests can also explore the ecological trails at the back. A 30-minute walk along the trail allows you to observe traces of various wildlife species.

"Integrating ecology isn’t just about providing accommodation – that’s our commitment," said Li Yuzheng, manager of the Bamboo & Stone Garden Eco Resort. The resort only offers 20 rooms for guests, aiming to sell packages that combine ecology and accommodation. These include locally unique ecological tour content that changes with the seasons, allowing guests to experience a different side of Sun Moon Lake.

The rooms feature minimalist decor, and the butterfly species found in the park can be seen at the entrance of each room. Looking out from your room, besides enjoying views of Sun Moon Lake, you’ll also be greeted by a window full of green bamboo — another highlight. In addition to the interactive play area on the first floor, originally planned by the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Management Office, the Bamboo & Stone Garden Eco Resort stands out significantly from most hotels. Every morning, guests wake up as if in a completely natural environment.

With no reviews yet visible on booking sites like Agoda, the Bamboo & Stone Garden Eco Resort is still known to only a small number of travelers. Staying here not only allows you to get close to nature, but during the firefly season, you can also admire the beautiful sight of fireflies dancing in the park. Li Yuzheng stated that although current occupancy is only around 30%, they will continue to promote eco-tours and accommodation around Sun Moon Lake in the future, hoping to offer more travelers a vacation experience different from typical boat rides or lake-viewing.
