From June 19, students traveling in groups on high-speed rail to return home can enjoy a 50% discount

Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation announced today (June 12) that, in order to provide discounted travel services for university students returning home, it will launch the “University Students Group Return Home Special Program” from June 19 to 30, 2014. During this period, any group of 20 or more university students who book seats in the standard class with assigned seating on designated trains, and whose group members are traveling on the same train and departing from the same origin station, can enjoy a 50% discount. A total of 12 days are covered, with 212 discounted train services available (applicable train services).

The high-speed rail company stated that the “University Students Group Return Home Special Program” does not overlap with the existing student discounts offered by the company, providing greater flexibility in return travel times for university students. Ticket booking for this program is now open. University student groups (of 20 or more) planning to take the same train service and departing from the same origin station are requested to visitthe high-speed rail corporate websiteto check and register.

Details of the “University Students Group Return Home Special Program”:
1. Travel period: June 19 to June 30, totaling 12 days.
2. Booking period: Starting now, with a deadline of two days before the travel date at the latest.
3. Eligibility: University student groups of 20 or more traveling on the same train service and departing from the same origin station.
4. Travel regulations: Please bring your student ID for verification when boarding. Failure to present valid ID or mismatch of identity will result in the collection of the difference between the full fare and the discounted fare paid.
