Locals in Longtan highly recommend it — great value and generous portions of q" meat rice

The day before the Dragon Boat Festival, we strolled to Longtan Pond to watch the dragon boat races. Although we missed the races, we unexpectedly stumbled upon the legendary dish — Longtan Fuyuan q" meat rice. We had passed by many times and always saw long queues outside; it’s said to be a highly recommended eatery among locals. Today, we arrived a bit earlier than dinner time, so the place wasn’t too crowded, and we even got a seat. Finally, we got to try the legendary “q" meat rice”! Hahaha... Is this bowl really this big?! So much rice, plenty of sides, and lots of fragrant q" meat. The ingredients are super hearty and have such an authentic local flavor — it’s that old-school, simple taste. This will definitely fill you up for sure. And ours was just the small portion, too!

We also ordered the char siu rice, and the char siu was tender with just the right firmness — pretty tasty, Up! The miso tofu soup at the shop is something you can drink as much as you want if you’ve ordered food, but if you haven’t ordered a meal, there’s a small charge of 10 NT for each bowl.

For someone like me, who doesn’t usually enjoy “lunchboxes or buffet-style meals,” Fuyuan q" meat rice feels like all those side dishes packed into one bowl. I wouldn’t call it incredibly delicious, but it’s not bad either — definitely full of sincerity and great value for money. Friends planning to visit Longtan, you should definitely give it a try! P.S. A friend of mine went the next day and said it was really good!
