Fascinating and Frightening Animals: The Youth Corps Hosts a "Crocodile Eco-Experience Camp"

Why are crocodiles a favorite on the Discovery Channel? How have they managed to survive in harsh environments for hundreds of millions of years? Why are they a key subject of study in immunology for many scientists today? There’s so much about crocodiles that’s worth exploring. This summer, the Taitung County Youth Corps, in collaboration with a unique eco-farm in Chaozhou and the Pingtung County Youth Corps, is organizing the “Come on, if you dare ~ Crocodile Eco-Experience Camp,” aiming to guide elementary school students in uncovering the mysteries of crocodiles.

The Youth Corps stated that this activity will allow children to closely observe crocodile ecology and learn about different crocodile species. July is the egg-laying season for female crocodiles, offering a chance to understand how mother crocodiles build nests and protect their eggs to defend their homes. Kids will also safely experience holding a baby crocodile in their arms, team up to play tug-of-war with a large crocodile, and take part in the thrilling activity of fishing for big crocodiles. They’ll observe one-fourth of the world’s crocodile species and thousands of crocodiles, including tailless ones. The event provides a safe environment to get up close with these frightening yet endlessly fascinating creatures, revealing the mysterious and ancient side of these animals that has been passed down for millennia, helping children understand the living habits and life cycle of crocodiles.

Event Dates: July 16 to July 17. To benefit children in the Taitung area, a special discounted price of NT$2,400 is offered for Taitung participants. Additionally, if round-trip transportation tickets are needed, an extra NT$300 will be charged with provided pick-up and drop-off services.
