If you're flying with British Airways in the future and your blanket turns red during the flight, the cabin crew will know you're not feeling very comfortable.
That’s because just last week, they introduced a customized sleep blanket called the "Happiness Blanket" and began testing it. This blanket contains neurosensors and fiber-optic instruments in its fabric.
The Happiness Blanket uses fiber-optic detectors to measure passengers' brain waves. The color of the blanket changes between red and blue depending on the passenger's level of relaxation or tension. A red blanket means the passenger is feeling tense, while a blue one indicates they are relaxed. This functions similarly to a mood ring, except this happiness blanket is backed by science!

The airline hopes to improve passengers' in-flight experience by monitoring their sleep and relaxation patterns. In addition to enhancing comfort, this also increases the efficiency of onboard entertainment systems. The blanket can clearly inform the crew about each passenger’s optimal cabin lighting, meal times, and most comfortable seating posture.
This tech-driven service will be officially used on flights from London to New York to continuously monitor individual passengers’ comfort levels with the cabin environment.

However, this also means that when you’re feeling stressed, the cabin crew will carefully record why you’re feeling tense or uncomfortable. Let’s hope this overly attentive service doesn’t end up making you even more stressed!
