Yilan Children's Fun Festival Kicks Off This Weekend — “Upside-Down Water Maze” Transforms into a Pink Pterosaur

This year’s Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival will kick off this weekend. The organizing committee opened the water play facilities for experience today (the 3rd) in the morning, offering free entry to friends from low-income families within the county and institutions serving vulnerable children and youth. In addition to the two major attractions, “White Waves Galore” and “Wingslide Water Slide,” there’s also the action-packed “Checkerboard Water Stage,” the “Upside-Down Water Maze,” and the ever-popular “Frog Waterslide” beloved by kids, along with performances by 23 teams from 17 countries.

The Children's Fun Festival will take place at the Dongshan River Water Park from July 5 to August 24. The Yilan County Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that the event theme, “Jump,” will continue to center around four main elements: games, exhibitions, performances, and exchanges. The highlight of the water play area includes the classic “Big and Small Upside-Down Water Mazes,” with the kids’ favorite waterslide transformed into a pink pterosaur. This year, the floor of the traditional water maze has been redesigned with a checkerboard pattern, adding a new attraction.

Among them, “White Waves Galore” is also a new facility this year, designed in the shape of a giant crab. Twelve tons of water cascade down from above, instantly cooling off the summer heat. Additionally, artist Lin Shunlong’s work “The Magical Voyage Chronicle of the Seed Ship” allows visitors to ride a large slide and experience a trampoline. The “Little Ones Creative Play Kingdom” is an area designed for children under six, while the “Bounce Village Creative Picture Book House” features a collection of works by top domestic and international picture book artists.
