Yilan’s Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area sits at an altitude of about 1,900 meters, with temperatures averaging around 10 degrees Celsius lower than those at sea level, making it an ideal summer retreat. The Luye Forest District Office under the Forestry Bureau stated that the area’s Taipingshan Lodge has 50 rooms, accommodating approximately 150 visitors. However, during the summer vacation, nearly all rooms are booked, prompting the decision to open the park at 3:30 AM so that visitors can take their time strolling along the trails, enjoying the sunrise and sea of clouds.

In addition to admiring the beautiful scenery of the Lanyang River Valley, visitors can also explore the Jiuzi Swamp Forest Trail and soak in the Jiuzi Swamp Hot Springs at the foot of the mountain. Here, guests can try the fun experience of boiling eggs in hot spring water, as well as enjoy refreshing drinks to beat the summer heat.
