Sun Moon Lake Fireworks Music Festival: First-Ever Vintage Bicycle Cosplay Event

The annual "Sun Moon Lake International Fireworks Music & Cycling Carnival" will be held from October 17 to November 9 this year, featuring six concerts over four weeks, plus a cycling event on November 9 called "2014 Taiwan Cycling Festival – Sun Moon Lake Come! Bikeday." This year’s event will feature vintage bicycle riding and cosplay, recreating classic cycling scenes. The performances will be accompanied by spectacular fireworks, with the shimmering lakefront pyrotechnics set against the backdrop of elegant symphonic music, offering visitors a deeper experience of Sun Moon Lake’s beauty.

The "Sun Moon Lake International Fireworks Music Carnival," held every October, is a flagship event that attracts both domestic and international travelers in autumn. This year’s concert series kicks off on October 18 at the Ita Thao Wharf with The North Face’s "Mountain Wild Music & Fireworks Festival," followed by four consecutive weekends of exciting performances: on October 25, Taiwan Mobile’s "Our Future – Not a Dream" Fireworks Concert; on October 26, the Hsinchu Symphony Wind Orchestra’s "Disney Fantasy World"; on November 1, the Butterfly Symphony Orchestra’s "Sunshine Seasons" and Rainbow Valley Band’s "Folk Rock"; on November 8, the Private Fu-Hsing Experimental High School’s "Strings Resonate Over Mingtan"; and on November 9, the grand finale, the 2014 Taiwan Cycling Festival’s "Sun Moon Lake Come ! Bikeday" cycling event. Each performance is paired with a fireworks display, allowing visitors to enjoy the distinct daytime and nighttime charm of Sun Moon Lake.

Admission to all carnival performances is free. During the event period, many local businesses around Sun Moon Lake are also offering special discount packages. Travelers interested in joining this autumnal light-travel experience are encouraged to plan their trips early.
