Kobe Launches New Free WiFi Service – Connect at 3,000 Hotspots Starting Late July

Kobe City, known for its “Million Dollar Night View,” will launch “Kobe Free WiFi” from the end of July to attract more tourists. Visitors can pick up a card at designated locations within the city to access free internet at 3,000 hotspots across Kobe.

In addition to Kyoto and Osaka, Kobe is also one of the popular destinations for travel in the Kansai region. The city’s Port of Kobe boasts the “Million Dollar Night View,” ranked alongside Hakodate and Nagasaki as one of Japan’s three great night views. Other local attractions include the Kobe Port Tower, Nankinmachi—one of Japan’s three largest Chinatowns—and Meriken Park.

According to surveys, many overseas visitors have expressed a desire for more free WiFi hotspot services. To help tourists easily access local travel information, Kobe is not only setting up the “Kobe Free WiFi” network across the city but will also begin distributingfree WiFi ID cards at 11 locations, including Kobe Airport, the Kobe City Comprehensive Information Center, Kobe City Hall, the 24th Floor Observation Lobby of Kobe City Hall, the Kobe Maritime Museum, Kobe International Exhibition Hall, the Rokko Island Ariake Visitor Center, the Shin-Kobe Station Visitor Center, the Port of Kobe New Port Fourth Pier, the Kobe Port Tower, and the Kobe Airport Maritime Transport Terminal.A total of 11 locations where free WiFi ID cards are distributed.
