Separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists – the Meiti Riverside Park ensures a safer biking experience.

The pedestrian-cyclist separation project on the Meiti Riverside Park bicycle path along the right bank of the Keelung River was completed on July 8, 2014. The closed lane has been widened, repaved, and reopened. Cyclists passing through this section can now fully enjoy the thrill of riding, freely traveling between the Rainbow and Yuanshan Riverside Parks.

The Taipei City Water Department stated that to provide a safe cycling environment, it specifically selected the Meiti Riverside Park bicycle path along the right bank of the Keelung River for the pedestrian-cyclist separation project. The improved section is approximately 1,700 meters long, with the existing lane widened to 6 meters to ensure the separation of cyclists and pedestrians, thereby guaranteeing the safety of both bicycle users and pedestrians. At the same time, some park roads with lower usage rates have been restored to green space to maintain the riverside park’s green areas and effectively alleviate road congestion issues. The public is welcome to come and cycle or admire the beautiful views along the Meiti Riverbank while enjoying a high-quality waterside environment.
