Don’t lose out in style or spirit—Pingtung’s “P-Bike” makes its debut with 3-second bike pick-up and return

Taipei has U-Bike, Kaohsiung has C-Bike, and now Pingtung has P-Bike Up too！The public bicycle rental system P-Bike, designed for the people of Pingtung, was developed by the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC) which completed the bicycle frame design. It was publicly unveiled on the 16th. With its “3-second pick-up and return” feature, P-Bike signals Pingtung’s future as a low-carbon, livable city.

The P-Bike frame is designed in bright yellow. KRTC states that P-Bike offers three major advantages: safety, comfort, and high visibility. In addition to using a one-piece molded frame, it features an off-road frame, a low step-over design, and a lightweight body, along with larger tire size and rims for smoother pedaling. An LED lighting device is also installed on the front wheel to ensure safety even when riding at night. The saddle is designed to be wide and comfortable, with adjustable height to suit any rider.

P-Bike is not only intended to meet the transportation needs of local residents but is also expected to become a new travel option for visitors exploring Pingtung City. It is scheduled to be officially completed and launched this October. The Pingtung County Government initially plans to set up 20 rental stations around the train station, densely populated residential areas, schools, parks, and government offices, and will initially provide 450 bicycles for public use. KRTC further stated that P-Bike not only allows “3-second pick-up and return,” but also offers the first 30 minutes of use free of charge.
