“Top 20 Best Airports in the World”: Taoyuan Ranks 18th, 10th in Asia

Skytrax recently announced its 2014 rankings of the world’s best airports and airlines. Singapore Changi Airport once again retained its title as the world’s No. 1, while Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport saw a significant improvement this year, ranking 18th globally and 10th among the best airports in Asia.

This year, a total of 410 airports across 160 countries were evaluated. Singapore Changi Airport, a perennial winner in various airport rankings, not only claimed the top spot as the world’s and Asia’s best airport but also ranked within the global top 10 in detailed categories such as best terminal, customs, security check, transfers, cleanliness, shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities, dining, and airport staff service.

Although Taoyuan Airport has recently faced issues such as terminal leaks, power outages, and equipment failures, it ranked 18th in the 2014 global best airports list — a six-place improvement from its 24th place ranking in 2013. In the Asian airport rankings alone, Taoyuan Airport successfully made the list, coming in at 10th place. In the detailed airport service categories, Taoyuan Airport also ranked within the global top 10 for best customs, transfers, baggage delivery, security checks, and airport staff service.
