Taroko’s “Summer Original Flavor Ice Parlor” Opens – A Whole Pineapple Filled with Slush Is Super Wholesome

On a hot summer day, nothing beats digging into some ice treats big time. Located in Hualien, the Taroko Grand Formosa Taroko Hotel has launched its “Original Flavor Ice Parlor” this summer, featuring bold, whole-fruit creations as limited-edition midsummer specials. These include a “Pineapple Mango Slush” served in an entire fresh pineapple, and a “Fruit Medley Slush” made with watermelon and dragon fruit, allowing guests to enjoy a cool summer by the infinity pool by the river.

The “Pineapple Mango Slush” introduced by the Taroko Grand Formosa Taroko Hotel this time involves scooping out the flesh of a whole pineapple, then layering it with pineapple slush and fresh mango pulp. Both pineapple and mango are popular summer fruits known for their cooling properties. The mango pulp has delicate fibers and a sweet taste, which pairs wonderfully with the tangy and sweet pineapple slush, refreshing the senses with every bite. The blend of pineapple and mango flavors is so delightful that one can’t help but keep eating more. Due to its generous portion, it’s perfect for sharing with others.

The “Fruit Medley Slush” uses watermelons grown locally in Hualien. The hotel hollows out half a watermelon and turns its bright red flesh into round balls. These are then topped with a smooth slush made from fresh dragon fruit and watermelon juice. The vibrant red color resembles that of watermelon flesh, and water-drop-shaped chocolate pieces are used to mimic watermelon seeds. The adorable watermelon shape makes you feel cooler even before taking the first bite. The smooth slush melts in your mouth, instantly filling your palate with the refreshing aroma of watermelon, complemented by the sweet fruit flesh. With no extra ingredients or toppings, enjoying fruit has never been this refreshing.

Aside from frozen treats, drinking fresh juice is also a delight. The Taroko Grand Formosa Taroko has specially introduced five original-flavor juices for the summer: orange, grapefruit, dragon fruit, watermelon, and pineapple. The fruits are juiced on the spot, filtered, and then served inside the fruit itself. Holding a whole piece of fruit and sipping its freshest juice is a unique vacation experience.
