Typhoon Alert / July 23 Travel Activities and Attractions Information (Updates Ongoing)

Affected by Typhoon Matmo, various activities and tourist attractions across Taiwan have been impacted. Since July 22, some attractions and events have been adjusted. ETtoday News Cloud has compiled important updates on travel-related changes throughout Taiwan and will continue to update them in real time to help readers stay informed.

[Activities]
Taipei Songshan Cultural and Creative Park will be closed for one day starting at 00:00 on July 23. All entrances and exits will be shut, and all exhibition activities will be suspended.

Qigu Salt Mountain – One View, Two Sculptures Art Festival: The Mashagou Recreation Area will be closed from noon on July 22 through all of July 23, and exhibition activities will be suspended.

Yilan Children's Folk Game Festival: Closed on July 23.

Yilan International Lohas Festival: All performances on July 23 are canceled.

Yilan Fringe Festival: All activities canceled starting the evening of July 22, resuming on the afternoon of July 25.

Hualien Shoufeng Carp Lake Red Duck FUN Summer: Suspended starting July 22.

Hualien Fenglin Huanke Park – Hualien Soaring Season: Suspended starting July 22.

Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival: Hot air balloon activities on July 23 are canceled all day; activities on July 24 will be announced on the afternoon of July 23 depending on actual weather conditions; the Light and Shadow Music Concert on July 25 is postponed to August 8.

Matsu Seagull Watching: Canceled on July 23.

Chiayi Dongshi Fishermen’s Wharf Sea Summer Festival: Activities on July 23 are suspended.

Children’s Art Festival: On July 23, three performances of “France. Théâtre Anonymous – Speed” are canceled. Subject to weather conditions, they may be postponed to July 24 as follows: 16:30 at Dalongdong Bao’an Temple Courtyard Plaza, 18:00 at Taipei Expo Park Flower Sea Plaza, 19:00 at Taipei Expo Park Flower Sea Plaza. The “Story Shack Chat” event, originally scheduled for 13:30 and 16:00 on July 23, is postponed to the same times on July 25.
 

[Attractions]
Matsu Nangan Iron Fort, Dahan Stronghold, Qiugui Pavilion Trail, Beigan Luoshan Ecological Trail, Beihai Tunnel, Juguang Dapu Stone Carvings, and Dongyin Lighthouse will be closed starting at 18:00 on July 22.
Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts: Closed immediately after a land warning is issued.
Hehuan Mountain, Daxue Mountain, Baxian Mountain, Wuling, Tengzhi, Shuangliu, Kenting, Zhiben, Xiangyang, and other national forest recreation areas will be fully closed starting July 22.
Alishan Forest Recreation Area will be closed starting at 09:30 on July 22, and the Alishan Forest Railway will suspend service on July 23.
Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area and the natural trails under the Luodong Forest District Office will be closed starting July 22.
Zhiben National Forest Recreation Area, Dawushan Ecology Education Hall, and its nine managed natural trails will be closed starting at 09:00 on July 22.
Aowanda Forest Recreation Area has been closed since July 22.
Neidong, Manyueyuan, Dongyanshan, Guanwu, Lalashan Nature Reserve, Wulai Cable Car, and trail systems are all fully closed.
Chinan, Fuyuan National Forest Recreation Areas, Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park, Danong Danfu Plain Forest Area, and Ruisui Ecology Hall, along with their respective trails, are temporarily closed on July 22. The Hualien Forest District Office will determine reopening times based on typhoon impact and safety confirmation.
Taroko National Park has completely prohibited entry into ecological reserves and other restricted areas since July 21.
New Taipei City Pingxi Poli’s Sky Lantern Museum: Light show canceled on July 23, sky lantern tickets not sold for the day.
Songshan Cultural and Creative Park is currently undergoing post-disaster recovery efforts. The public is advised not to visit the park to avoid risking personal safety.
The operating hours of Eslite Songyan Store on July 23 have been adjusted to 1:00 PM–10:00 PM. For public safety, only the Taipei Cultural and Creative Building entrance on Yancao Road will be open (one side only); other areas remain closed.
The Kobayashi Tree on Beilun Avenue in Taitung (aka Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree): has fallen. Related news ＜＜＜＜
 

[Amusement Parks]
Lihpao Land Adventure Park, Water Park (Mallaca Bay), and the Escape Room Theme Park will be closed for one day on July 23.

[Other]
Kaohsiung Public Bicycle Stations: gradually closing starting at 3:00 PM on July 22.
Taipei City YouBike Smile Bikes: all services suspended from 12:00 AM on July 23.
Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Golden Hualien-Fulong Line: no service on July 23.
New Taipei City Mini Tours: the Three Gorges & Yingge Line and Tamsui & Bali Line (July 23–24) are canceled.
New Taipei City Wulai Fushan Leisure Tour (July 22–23): canceled.
Bitan Water Bicycle rentals closed until the typhoon warning is lifted.
Tainan T-Bike: system suspended for one day on July 23 due to typhoon landfall.
