Regarding the crash of GE222 flight during an emergency landing at Penghu Airport on the evening of July 23, TransAsia Airways held a press conference at 22:00 that night at Terminal 2 of Songshan Airport. TransAsia Airways PresidentHsu Yitsungalso personally addressed the situation.

After appearing, Hsu Yitsung first bowed deeply to express his apologies to the public, and with a choked voice stated that GE222 flight, originally scheduled to depart at 16:00, had 54 passengers and 4 crew members on board. The flight was delayed due to the typhoon and later made an emergency landing due to weather conditions. Injured passengers have been sent to Penghu Hospital under the Department of Health and Tri-Service General Hospital Penghu Branch for treatment.

During the press conference, Hsu Yitsung apologized three times and bowed twice. He stated that special flights have been arranged to help families travel to Magong, andan emergency hotline (0800-719-988) has been set up to provide immediate assistance to families. He also promised to fully carry out rescue and aftermath efforts. Civil Aeronautics Administration CEOWang Hsing-chunghas also led a nine-person emergency response team to Magong Airport.
