Full text of the apology letter from TransAsia Airways President Lin Hsiao-hsin: The pain lingers, and we will take responsibility

TransAsia Airways flight GE222 crashed in Penghu on the 23rd, resulting in 48 deaths and 15 injuries. TransAsia Airways President Lin Hsiao-hsin held a press conference at 6 p.m., issuing a heartfelt statement, saying that every moment of the past 24 hours has been torment. Currently, TransAsia Airways has mobilized all departments to form a follow-up task force. Next steps will include mourning, supporting the families, and handling the aftermath. Meanwhile, TransAsia Group Chairman Lin Ming-... is on his way back from the U.S. and will head directly to Magong, Penghu tomorrow morning to deal with the follow-up.

The full text of the apology letter from TransAsia Airways President Lin Hsiao-hsin is as follows:
TransAsia Airways flight GE222 crashed in Penghu last night.
As the person in charge of the group, I, along with all management, would like to express our deepest apologies to the public through the media.

This is the darkest and most heartbreaking day of my life.
This plane crash has caused the loss of lives among my fellow citizens and unrest across society. We have also lost some excellent colleagues who were dedicated to their duties. The pain is unforgettable, keeping me awake all night. That’s why I want to offer my deepest apologies here.

Here, I want to take full responsibility to say that our group, including TransAsia Airways, will shoulder all responsibilities for the harm and losses caused by this incident, and we will handle every aspect of the aftermath properly.

We especially express our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the passengers and crew members who tragically lost their lives in this incident.
For the families of the deceased, we will do everything we can to support their various needs.
In addition, for the injured passengers, we will also ensure proper care for them.
TransAsia Airways has personnel stationed in Penghu and other relevant locations, fully assisting the families in handling and caring matters.

After this incident, many friends and local residents from Magong and elsewhere participated in the rescue and disaster relief efforts for the injured and deceased. I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone here.
Many friends from the religious community have voluntarily helped comfort the families. This kindness, we will never forget.
Regarding the losses and injuries caused by the crash to people and property on the ground,
we will also make every effort to provide proper compensation.

After the incident, central government agencies, as well as all units under the Penghu County Government and Kaohsiung City Government, worked tirelessly to rescue, assist in resettlement, and carry out follow-up measures. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of them here.

Finally, I would like to reiterate that, in my capacity as the person in charge of the group, I express my deepest apologies to the public.
