Ghost Month Opens: Jianhu Mountain’s “Glow-in-the-Dark Ghost Makeup Party” Lets Visitors Dress Up to Scare the Ghosts

Who’s really scaring whom — the ghosts or the people? With Ghost Month upon us in the lunar calendar, haunted house attractions at theme parks across Taiwan have become the go-to spots for thrill-seekers this month. This year, Jianhu Shan Amusement World in Yunlin has come up with a unique twist: before entering the haunted house, visitors can get glowing ghost makeup done, allowing them to turn the tables and scare the ghosts instead — giving them a chance to vent their frustration after being scared all day long.

As you approach the haunted house, the pitch-black path forces you to move forward slowly, while screams from ahead keep ringing in your ears, heightening your fear. You never know if, around the next corner, someone with a blood-covered face might suddenly leap out at you with a gaping mouth, scaring you half to death. Even as you rush out the exit in a panic, your face remains pale and your heart still races...

Now all visitors can finally get their revenge. To mark the opening of Ghost Month, Jianhu Shan World has launched the “Glow-in-the-Dark Ghost Face Painting” event every Friday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Before entering the park’s terrifying attraction “Ghost Harbor,” every visitor can have a glowing ghost face painted on. Following the rule of no physical contact, guests can freely taunt the ghosts inside, and when the ghosts jump out to scare them, they can shout back with their own ferocious ghost faces. Many who’ve already tried it exclaim: “So satisfying!”
