Where to go for Qixi Festival? Discover the new romantic spots at Taipei’s Rainbow Bridge and Dadaocheng Wharf

This year’s Qixi Festival falls on a Saturday, giving couples the chance to enjoy sweet moments from morning till night. Couples who love a sweet and romantic vibe should definitely visit the Rainbow Bridge at Chengmei Left and Right Bank Riverside Park. Both sides of the bridge feature various love-themed installations, such as the beautiful “Next Stop: Happiness” bus stop sign, a couple’s stone bench shaped like the word “FOREVER,” and the red curved Rainbow Bridge—all great spots for photos. The ground also features the phrase “I Love You” in 12 languages—see how many your partner can pronounce?

Additionally, you don’t have to travel all the way to Paris’s Pont des Arts or Seoul Tower to witness eternity. At the “LOVE” and “IOU” installations, you can lock a love padlock together on the netting, symbolizing that your hearts are “locked” together. At night, stroll along the colorful light displays on both banks, admire the night view, and then walk hand-in-hand across the Rainbow Bridge, symbolizing that you’ve arrived at a place of shared happiness—romance level: off the charts.

Couples who prefer a retro and nostalgic vibe can head toDadaocheng Wharf at Yanping Riverside Parkfor a stroll. In addition to walking under the romantic lights along the riverbank, you can admire the dazzling light displays of Tangshan sailboats, street performances, and the famous Tamsui River sunset. You can also take a night cruise on a Blue Highway yacht along the Tamsui River. Alternatively, you can hold hands and explore the nearby Dihua Street shopping area and Yongle Market, or visit the Moon God at Xiademen Temple to help tie the love knot for the two of you.

Couples who enjoy physical challenges can rent bicycles at the rental station near Dadaocheng Wharf and cycle along the riverside bike path toward Tamsui. Along the way, enjoy views of Yangmingshan and the Tamsui River sunset. Once in Tamsui, you can return the bike there, explore the old streets, try some snacks, and enjoy a little micro-trip full of small joys together. It’s worth noting that Taipei has many riverside parks that are perfect for Valentine’s Day outings. Visitors are also welcome to discover their own favorite riverside parks and create memorable spots for their love story.

Transportation Info for Chengmei Riverside Park
 
1. MRT: Take the Banqiao Line to “Taipei City Hall” Station, exit from Exit 2, transfer to Bus Blue 7 and get off at Songshan Station. Cross the street (Bade Road), walk straight, enter the alley to the right of Ciyu Temple (Lane 763), go to the end (embankment), turn left onto Songhe Street for about 150 meters to reach “Base 4 Evacuation Gate (Raoh River Evacuation Gate),” then enter Chengmei Left Bank Riverside Park from there.
2. Train: Get off at Songshan Station and walk to the park
Yanping Riverside Park:
1. MRT: Transfer to Red 33 at Shuanglian Station and get off at Dadaocheng Wharf Station
2. Bus: Take Bus 9, 206, 274, 641, 669, or 704 to Dadaocheng Wharf Station, or Bus 255, 518, or 539 to Minsheng West Road Intersection Station, then walk about 10 minutes toward the end of Minsheng West Road.
3. Car: Follow Huannan South Road and look for the Dadaocheng Wharf entrance signs to arrive.
