Taitung’s “Dawu Golden Needle Flower Festival” Begins – Vast Golden Seas of Flowers Paint the Mountain Slopes

The annual Golden Needle Flower Festival in Dawu Township, Taitung County, has officially kicked off today ! Golden yellow flowers are swaying in the mountain breeze. Currently, golden needle flowers at altitudes above 1,200 meters have gradually begun to bloom. Take advantage of the summer vacation and head to Dawu, known as the “Land of the Rising Sun,” for a memorable flower viewing trip on Golden Needle Mountain.

Named after the vast fields of golden needle flowers cultivated in the mountains, Dawu’s Golden Needle Mountain is now gradually entering its peak blooming period. This year, the blooming area has expanded from the original 5 hectares to 11 hectares. Tiny, shimmering flowers are spreading down from the highest peak of Golden Needle Mountain, covering several mountain ridges. Visitors can stroll along flower-lined trails and rest in pavilions amidst the golden sea of blossoms, admiring the swaying golden hues and experiencing the uniquely elegant beauty of the golden needle flowers.

Taitung County Magistrate Huang Jian-ting stated that Golden Needle Mountain in Dawu is a diverse tourism destination offering not only flower viewing and tea tasting but also numerous walking trail facilities. In addition to golden needle flowers, various flower seasons such as cherry blossoms and wild lilies can be enjoyed throughout the year. As the hot air balloon carnival draws to a close, the golden needle flower season will continue the momentum, allowing Taitung to keep offering visitors different kinds of travel surprises and creating beautiful memories amid the picturesque scenery.

To ensure smooth traffic, Dawu Township Office is now providing special flower-viewing shuttle buses, departing every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from Dawu Township Office, and every Tuesday and Thursday from Taitung County Government. There are also garden tour buses available at the mountain tourist service center, ensuring easy access for visitors.“2014 Dawu Golden Needle Flower Festival”will run from today until October 3, with the best floral conditions expected between mid-August and mid-September.
