The most stunning summer scenery in eastern Taiwan—“golden needle flower seas” are dyeing the mountain summits yellow. Following the launch of the Taitung Taimali golden needle flower season, Hualien’s golden needle flower season officially kicked off today (the 8th), which is also Father’s Day.Currently, golden-yellow blooms have already appeared on the mountaintops of Chike Mountain, with even more expected to flourish next week. Meanwhile, in Taitung’s Taimali, the golden needle flowers have already covered the hills, thrilling visitors.

The golden needle flower seasons on Hualien’s most famous Chike Mountain and Liushishi Mountain have begun.Mr. Lin, head of Little Switzerland Farm on Chike Mountain, said that visitor numbers have been gradually increasing these past few days. The current flower conditions at the farm are good, but due to typhoon impacts this year, the overall flowering period has been delayed by one to two weeks. Conditions are expected to be even more spectacular next week.The Hualien County Government Agriculture Department stated that the Liushishi Mountain area has also been affected by the typhoon. Currently, the golden needle flowers have not yet bloomed, with most of the area still lush green. According to local guides, only Huanghua Pavilion, located in the middle section of the Liushishi Mountain scenic area, currently features a field of blooming golden needle flowers. It is expected that more impressive floral scenes will appear after mid-month. Those hoping to see the mountaintops of Liushishi Mountain fully blanketed in golden needle flowers may need to wait a bit longer.

Over in Taitung’s Taimali, the mountains now look as though they’re covered in golden velvet blankets, as the area enters peak golden needle flower season.This year, the blooming area has expanded from the original 5 hectares to 11 hectares, spreading from the foothills all the way to the mountaintop. The entire Wangyou Valley is filled with dense seas of golden needle flowers covering the hills—a truly beautiful sight. Visitors stroll along pathways specially built for admiring the flower seas, enjoying an enchanting and elegant scene.
