Tourism Center / Comprehensive Report
The Jioming Lake National Trail, where you can see the "Angel's Tear," was closed due to landslides caused by heavy rains from Typhoon Matmo. After repairs by the Taitung Forest District Office, it has reopened as of today. However, to prevent the spread of rabies, pets such as dogs and cats are not allowed.
Zhang Tiezhu, director of the Taitung Forest District Office, stated that although the trail has reopened, all 30 mountainous townships in Taiwan remain high-risk areas for rabies. Therefore, from now until July 31, 2015, pets including dogs and cats are prohibited in areas such as Zhiben and Xiangyang National Forest Recreation Areas.
Zhang Tiezhu also reminded hikers to prepare their hiking plans and undergo physical training before the trip. They must also apply for mountain entry permits from the police authorities as required and watch safety videos on mountain hiking before entering.
