A recent survey by travel website “Hopper.com” found that on domestic flights in the U.S., passengers on the same flight and in the same cabin class paid vastly different ticket prices, with the highest difference reaching over 8 times. Hopper.com recommends booking your ticket 54 days before departure and comparing prices extensively if you don’t want to pay more than others.

In early May this year, “Hopper.com” analyzed over a million domestic flight prices from multiple U.S. airlines.It found that the lowest one-way economy fare for United Airlines from Los Angeles International Airport to Las Vegas was under $200 (about NT$6,000), but at the same time, some passengers paid over $1,600 (about NT$48,000) for the same type of seat..

The price difference also varies among different airlines. Spirit Airlines had a 5% difference, Virgin America 15%, while larger airlines showed greater variation, such as United Airlines with an 18% difference.
