1. Flørli Stairs, Lysefjord, Norway

These stairs, remnants from an old Norwegian power plant, feature 4,444 steps – currently the longest wooden staircase in the world. It takes serious determination to climb to the top.

2. Haiku Stairs, O’ahu, Hawaii

With a total of 3,922 steps, the Haiku Stairs were originally built by the military to install communication antennas at the mountaintop. The staircase is very narrow, only wide enough for one person, and runs along cliffs with extremely steep sections — some parts are nearly 90 degrees. Never attempt this staircase on rainy days.

The Mosta Dome Cathedral in the Mediterranean island nation of Malta is the third-largest church in Europe. In 1942, an Italian bomb aimed to penetrate the dome failed to explode, which was considered a miracle. Reaching the top of this sacred staircase makes you feel even closer to God and heaven.
