Construction of Taiwan’s first light rail project in Kaohsiung is in full swing, and the first light rail train has finally departed from Spain recently. Chen Junrong, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation, stated that the physical train is expected to arrive in Taiwan in September.

As more details about the light rail train are unveiled, many members of the public are growing increasingly excited about its official launch. Although an explosion accident occurred in Kaohsiung earlier this month, Chen Junrong noted that although the construction schedule has been slightly affected, the main impact was on the light rail depot site, which happens to be located on the disaster-stricken Ketagalan Boulevard. Part of the area is currently being used as a relief and reconstruction road, but other unaffected sections of the project continue as planned. As forwhether the originally scheduled November testing will be affected, Chen Junrong said it is still under evaluation.。

As for the highly anticipated arrival of the physical light rail train, Chen Junrong mentioned that details regarding public access for viewing are still under discussion.
