Visa-Free Travel Frenzy: Booking Sites Offer Up to 75% Off Bangkok Hotels

Thailand has waived visa fees for Taiwanese tourists, including those applying for on-arrival visas. In response to this surge in interest, international hotel booking sites have curated 30 popular Bangkok accommodations, offering discounts of up to 75% for bookings made between now and the end of October. Travelers planning a trip may want to take advantage of these deals.

According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau, only 187,000 people visited Thailand in the first half of this year, a 26.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. As the political situation gradually stabilizes, tourist numbers are rebounding. Thailand has introduced a three-month visa fee exemption for Taiwanese travelers, which also includes waived fees for on-arrival visas. Agoda.com is offering special deals on Thai accommodations, featuring 30 popular hotels in Bangkok—repeatedly ranked as Asia’s best travel destination. Options range from budget 2-star hotels to luxurious 5-star stays, catering to all types of travelers, with prices slashed up to 75%.

Nicknamed the “Bangkok Imperial Palace Hotel” by Taiwanese travelers, the Grande Centre Point Hotel Ratchadamri is the most luxurious property under the Centre Point hotel group. It is just a 5-minute walk from BTS Ratchadamri Station, close to CentralWorld—a shopping haven for shopaholics—and the legendary Erawan Shrine, known for granting wishes. Booking this upscale apartment-style hotel for a stay from February 1 next year, between now and October 31, comes with a 54% discount.

Want a room with an unbeatable river view? Consider riverside hotels along the Chao Phraya River. Staying at Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside between now and the end of February 2015 can be as low as NT$2,000. Meanwhile, Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok is offering a 69% discount for bookings made before October 31 for a stay starting February 1 next year. These two 5-star hotels are less than 10 minutes from the popular Asiatique Riverfront Night Market, and just a 5-minute ferry ride from BTS Saphan Taksin Station via the hotels’ complimentary shuttle boats.

The 3-star Sathorn Place Hotel is offering an early bird special: book 2 nights or more at least 5 days in advance to enjoy a 75% discounted rate. Additionally, Grand Centre Point Hotel Terminal 21, located next to the creative shopping mall Terminal 21 and near BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit stations, as well as Lebua at State Tower Hotel (Bangkok Lotus Hotel)—the filming location of “The Hangover Part II”—are both offering special deals for Taiwanese travelers. Bookings made before the end of October for stays in early February 2015 come with 60% and 59% discounts, respectively.
