Scoot loosens rules – you can still use phones and tablets during takeoff and landing

Scoot announced that starting September 1, 2014, it will relax restrictions on the use of mobile electronic devices on board. From takeoff to landing, passengers will be allowed to use portable electronic devices to watch movies and listen to music.
Scoot stated that portable electronic devices, including tablets, mobile phones, or e-readers, can remain powered on during takeoff and landing once switched to “Airplane Mode.” Heavier electronic devices such as laptops must still be stowed properly during these phases. Additionally, the Boeing 787 aircraft, set to join Scoot’s fleet by the end of 2014, will also offer in-flight WiFi services.
