Iceland's Bardarbunga Volcano Travel Alert Raised to "Orange" – Avoid Non-Essential Travel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 28th that frequent earthquakes have occurred near Iceland's Bardarbunga (Bardarbunga) volcano, and as of today, the travel alert level for the area has been raised to"orange"travel alert level, while the rest of Iceland, excluding this area, has been raised to a"yellow"alert.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released the latest consular information. According to reports from the Taipei Representative Office in Denmark, frequent earthquakes have occurred near the Bardarbunga volcano. The Icelandic government had recently raised the alert level to the highest red tier and closed airspace near the volcano. However, after scientists reassessed the situation on August 24, the Icelandic government adjusted the alert back to orange and lifted the air traffic control restrictions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that due to ongoing earthquakes around the volcano, and based on safety considerations, the area near Bardarbunga volcano has been raised to an "orange" travel alert level, advising high caution and avoidance of non-essential travel. The ministry noted that if the volcano erupts, the resulting volcanic ash could impact flight safety and disrupt Iceland’s external transportation.
