TransAsia Airways announced today (September 1) that General Manager Hsu Yitsung has completed his phased mission and resigned. His position will be temporarily filled by Technical Vice General Manager Wu Husheng.

Following the air disaster in Penghu in July this year, which resulted in serious casualties, TransAsia initially proposed the highest compensation in Taiwan’s aviation history: NT$14.9 million per victim, with estimated total payouts exceeding NT$600 million.

It is understood that Singaporean Hsu Yitsung was promoted to TransAsia General Manager at the end of March 2013, but resigned just nine months later in September, leading many to associate this personnel change with responsibility for the crash.

In response, TransAsia stated that Hsu Yitsung had requested to resign by the end of July after completing the task of expanding flight routes, but the transition was postponed due to the air disaster. The role will now be assumed by Vice General Manager Wu Husheng, who has extensive experience in aircraft maintenance and management. The appointment takes effect from August 29. Going forward, the company will firmly uphold the goals of “flight safety first, service foremost.”
