Must-visit Half-Day Trip in Kaohsiung: Snap Photos at Historic Academies & Cool Off with Ice Cream

Today I’m going to introduce a small but interesting spot in Kaohsiung. Actually, this attraction isn’t brand new — it’s just that I, Evan, had the chance to visit Fengshan in Kaohsiung this time, so I decided to check it out. To my surprise, it turned out to be much more fun than I expected. At first, I thought it would only take about ten minutes to walk through the academy, but I ended up spending quite a while there. There was food, drinks, and lots of adorable photo spots featuring people dressed in period costumes, set against historically themed backdrops. The whole experience had a unique charm, and some of the figures were not only cute but also expressed rather humorous scenes. You’ll see how fun it is when you check out Evan’s photos later. Aside from the figures and brief historical introductions, you can also dress up in period clothing for photos — completely free. Just be warned: because so many people have worn the outfits, they’ve got a pretty strong “manly” smell — but if you don’t mind, go ahead and snap some photos. Haha.

The ticket price is quite cheap, and there are guided tours on holidays. I think they put a lot of effort into it. Also, locals in Kaohsiung get in free on weekdays.

As soon as you enter the main hall, you’ll find endless photo opportunities — super fun

After seeing all these photos, it’s finally time to go into the academy...

There are also plenty of cute figures inside, all set in themed scenarios.

After taking photos in the classroom, you’re probably melting — time for some refreshing ice and iced tea Up

Spend over 300 and you can enjoy a private room. You can pretend to be sipping tea like the locals back then~~

You can also get a bit artsy and try writing with a brush pen

After eating your ice, you can try on official robes for the full experience Up. Remember to hold your breath when putting them on.

You can also wear the official robes and take photos with the buildings here — super “authentic”

After the robe experience, you can check out other small rooms with text displays and play board games. Many of the written descriptions are really fun — the designers put a lot of thought into it.

There’s also a small room simulating exams back in the day — apparently you’d sleep, take tests, and eat here (personally, I think it’s way too small XD)

You can even learn the name of each beam, you know (seriously, who wants to learn that?)

Most importantly, every little room has air conditioning, yay!! (What kind of top priority is that, XDDD)

When we were about to leave these little rooms, we even ran into some super friendly locals~ Had no choice but to shake hands and take photos with them~ Who knew residents of Fengshan could be this warm and welcoming, XDDD So extra, XDD

It’s really quite fun~ The only downside is that it gets super hot~ So everyone, remember to put on some good sun protection.
