Yilan Adds More “Eland-Free” Free Wi-Fi: 185 Hotspots for Instant Access

The Yilan County Government announced a collaboration with major telecom provider Taiwan Mobile, launching the “eland-free” free Wi-Fi service starting today at locations such as Luodong Night Market, tourist factories, and convenience stores. Going forward, residents can simply register online to enjoy unlimited internet access at 410 hotspots across the county.

The “eland-free” Wi-Fi service is open to all, including both local residents and international tourists, and can be used within designated service areas. The Yilan County Government stated that the county had previously established 225 free Wi-Fi hotspots on its own. With the partnership with Taiwan Mobile, an additional 185 hotspots have been added and are now fully operational. By the end of the year, the plan is to set up another 500 hotspots in public institutions, tourist attractions, libraries, and other locations. Once completed, along with the i-Taiwan network, there will be a total of 835 service points available throughout the county.

However, it should be noted that each free hotspot can be used once per day. The usage window is six consecutive hours from the time of registration, allowing users to easily take photos and share Yilan’s scenic beauty online.
