Da Nang, a holiday paradise for Western travelers, is often described by travel-loving friends as “absolutely stunning!” This time, I finally set foot on this naturally beautiful land with its enchanting white sandy beaches. The stretch of fine white sand, about 40 kilometers long, is clearly visible as the plane approaches the offshore area of Da Nang; the white sand, green fields, and blue sea might just make you fall in love with it even before landing.

Vietnam is inherently a simple and unpretentious country, where a romantic way of life shines through in the words and actions of its people. But in Da Nang, there’s an added layer of warmth; the street atmosphere resembles that of eastern Taiwan, yet walking toward the seaside feels like arriving in Hawaii. No wonder some call itthe “Oriental Hawaii.”Even in late summer, the sun remains fierce, low-hanging white clouds reflect against the azure sky, and everywhere you look, Westerners in bikinis are sweetly enjoying the soft, delicate white sands. The naturally beautiful scenery makes you momentarily forget you’re in Asia. This slight sense of disbelief probably stems from the fact that Da Nang is a world apart from your imagination of Vietnam.
