Three stories high in height — Taiwan’s only teddy bear museum to open in Hsinchu next March

The Hsinchu County Government has transformed the Yingfeng Pavilion in Guanxi Township into Taiwan’s only teddy bear museum through outsourcing. The little bears will finally settle down after years of moving around, with the museum set to open in Hsinchu County next March (2018). The Teddy Bear Museum houses collections from historic brands such as Germany’s Steiff and Hermann, as well as America’s Gund. In addition to the cuddly teddy bears that visitors can touch, there are also limited-edition bears for display and collection. Of course, there will also be precious teddy bears unique to Taiwan, which will make their debut dressed in Hakka floral fabric.

The teddy bear museum, set to open next year, will become a new adorable attraction on the romantic Hakka Provincial Highway 3 Route. It will allow visitors to play hide-and-seek with the teddy bears — a fresh and fun experience. The county government has invested NT$20 million to renovate and revitalize the Yingfeng Pavilion, bringing world-class teddy bears to the area. It hopes to leverage their fame and character appeal to combine with local Hakka culture, making the Provincial Highway 3 Route both romantic and cute. The first facilities to open will be the “Bike Station” and “Visitor Service Center,” scheduled to be unveiled between September and October this year. Half a year later, the “Teddy Bear Museum Hakka Cultural and Creative Park” will officially open to the public.

The transformation of the Yingfeng Pavilion into a warm and adorable teddy bear museum features a three-story-high atrium as the core design element. The concept is based on the idea of a global village, with the atrium as the main body and surrounding exhibition halls encircling it, creating an inclusive family-like atmosphere where visitors can immerse themselves in the lives and world of the teddy bears. The basement level is planned as an art gallery and exchange area, the first-floor atrium serves as the main visual exhibition space, and the second floor houses various themed teddy bear exhibitions.
