Double Ten Holiday: Taiwan Railways adds 180 train services; ticket booking opens on September 25

Do you have any travel plans for the last long holiday of the year? To accommodate passengers traveling during the Double Ten Holiday, Taiwan Railways will operate an additional 180 train services across all service types over a five-day period from Thursday, October 9 to Monday, October 13, 2014. Ticket booking is expected to open at midnight on September 25.

This time, Taiwan Railways will add a total of 180 train services across all service types during the Double Ten Holiday. These include 65 Tzu-Chiang Limited Express services, 22 Chu-Kuang Express services, and 6 local trains on the Eastern Line, totaling 93 services; on the Western Line, there will be 34 Tzu-Chiang Limited Express services, 25 Chu-Kuang Express services, and 6 local trains, totaling 65 services; and on the South-Link Line, there will be 16 Chu-Kuang Express and 6 Fu-Hsing Semi-Express services, totaling 22 services. Starting from midnight on Thursday, September 25, 2014, tickets can be booked online, at convenience stores, and via telephone voice booking, with reservations available for services up to October 13, 2014.

In addition, to reduce the refund rate for passengers taking reserved-seat trains on Taiwan Railways, the railway authority has announced an adjustment to refund fees. The current flat rate of NT$13 will be replaced with a four-tier fee structure, with the new system taking effect in mid-December.
