Summer has arrived, and the sweltering heat not only kills your appetite but also becomes the ultimate showdown for showing off your figure. For girls worried about gaining weight, Cabbage Lab Kitchen is the perfect place to hang out. As the elevator door opens on the rooftop of Eslite Spectrum, the aroma of dried flowers and food wafts through the air. The spacious indoor area is filled with glass jars “in progress” containing pickled plums, homemade jams, and peach fruit vinegar. Outside, there's a 300-ping sky garden planted with organic herbs, butterfly peas, bitter melons, watermelons, and other produce. Some of the delicious flavors on your plate come fresh from that green space. In addition, the meat and seafood all come with traceable production records. The owner says that besides eating food in its original form, it's also important to know who grew or raised it.

One of the owners, Liza, is a beautiful retired flight attendant and a true foodie. With 20 years of flying experience, she’s tasted delicious food from around the world and has traveled to places like Italy and Germany to learn rural cooking from local moms. Loves trying new things and cooking, her weekend hobby is exploring towns and counties on the hunt for hidden gems. She’s even earned the title of “Flavor Hunter.” Fully supporting small farm culture, she says with shining eyes: “Every country has its own food culture. Taiwan’s farm produce is so great—I want everyone to taste what ‘Taiwan flavor’ really means.”

The open kitchen doesn’t have even a hint of greasy smell, and the clean, cozy space makes you never want to leave once you sit down. In addition to high-top seating by the window, there’s also a scenic area where you can overlook the bustling cityscape of Taichung. The dried flower table area also regularly hosts various DIY workshops, such as making dried flower crowns, homemade jam, or even watercolor and calligraphy classes. It’s a very healing experience to take a class and have a meal here on weekends.
