Building an Asia-Pacific Aviation Network: Japan Airlines and Vietjet Sign Strategic Cooperation Plan

Japan Airlines and Vietjet Air announced yesterday (25th) in Ho Chi Minh City that the two carriers will officially sign a cooperation agreement. This move aims not only to meet air travel demand between multiple destinations in Vietnam and Japan but also to address tourism needs in nearby Asian regions. In response to the rapidly growing traffic between Vietnam and Japan, both airlines will launch additional routes connecting the two countries and expand their aviation network across Japan, Vietnam, and the broader Asia region.

As a first step in the partnership, the two airlines will launch codeshare flights on international routes between Japan and Vietnam, Japan Airlines domestic services, Vietjet Air domestic routes, as well as international routes connecting Vietnam with other Asian countries. These efforts are expected to bring greater convenience to passengers. Additionally, the two companies will deepen collaboration in areas such as frequent flyer programs, aircraft maintenance, ground services, and training. Currently, Japan Airlines already operates direct flights from Tokyo Narita Airport to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, as well as from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Ho Chi Minh City.
