The first in all of Sun Moon Lake — Cloudy Bay obtains “Muslim-Friendly Restaurant” certification

Muslims make up about one-fifth of the global population. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration has held a “Sun Moon Lake Muslim Certification Training” this year (2014) in July to promote tourism among Muslim travelers. The first “Muslim-Friendly Restaurant” in Sun Moon Lake has now been established, marking a new milestone in creating a Muslim-friendly travel environment in the area.

To promote the Muslim market, the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Administration invited the Chinese Muslim Association to co-host the “Sun Moon Lake Muslim Certification Training” in July this year to help local businesses understand the relevant Muslim certification processes. With guidance from the administration, Cloudy Bay Hot Spring Hotel has officially obtained the “Muslim-Friendly Restaurant” certification from the Chinese Muslim Association, becoming the first establishment in Sun Moon Lake to receive such recognition. It is also the first teppanyaki restaurant in Taiwan to be certified, and has additionally acquired the “Muslim-Friendly Accommodation and Dining” certification, making it the first international-level Muslim-friendly lodging and dining operator in the Sun Moon Lake area.

Zhang Zhenqian, Director of the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area Administration, stated that in order to develop the Muslim tourism market, efforts will continue to encourage more businesses in the area to pursue Muslim-related certifications, aiming to attract more Muslim visitors to Sun Moon Lake, boost the development of the hospitality industry, and increase economic benefits.
