Taipei MRT’s “Songshan Line” to open in November; 15-minute ride from Raohe Night Market to Ximending

Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation announced on the 2nd that the Songshan Line will undergo its initial city government inspection on the 5th, with an expected opening in mid-November. Once officially operational, the trip from Raohe Night Market to Ximen Station will take just 15 minutes, and the number of transfer stations will increase from the original 9 to 12.

The Songshan Line is 8.5 kilometers long and includes eight stations: Songshan, Nanjing Sanmin, Taipei Arena, Nanjing Fuxing, Songjiang Nanjing, Zhongshan, Beimen, and Ximen. The full line ride takes about 15 minutes.

Among these, Zhongshan, Songjiang Nanjing, and Nanjing Fuxing stations interchange with the Xinyi, Zhonghe–Xinlu, and Wenhu lines respectively, while Ximen Station already connects with the Banqiao–Nangang Line. Additionally, Songshan Station can be accessed via an underground passage from Taipei Railway Station’s Songshan Station, and Beimen Station will be connected to the future Taoyuan Airport MRT Taipei Station.

Taipei MRT also stated that the Songshan Line will link up with the Xinbeitou Line (also part of the Green Line), operating under the “Songshan–Xindian” and “Xiangshan–Tamsui” service patterns. The five MRT routes will function independently without interference, and each route has dedicated platforms, so passengers no longer have to worry about boarding the wrong train. Especially with more transfer options, travelers can easily reach every station on the network while effectively reducing crowding.
