The number of visitors entering Alishan reaches an all-time high

Taiwan's international tourist arrivals grew by 26% in the first half of the year, ranking among the top globally. Meanwhile, Alishan National Forest Recreation Area also set a new annual visitor record for over 30 years on October 2. As of 9:00 AM on October 2, 103 (2014), the number of visitors surpassed the previous historical high of 2,080,811 set in 101 (2012). By October 2, 103, the cumulative number of visitors had reached 2,086,275.

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area has set new records for three consecutive years. In 101 (2012), the number of visitors exceeded 2 million for the first time, and in 102 (2013), the figure reached over 2.06 million. In 103 (2014), it hit a new high again. The Chiayi Forest District Office stated that it has successively completed various projects including the pedestrian-vehicle separation of Zhushan Forest Road (in three phases), improvements to the facilities and landscape of the Visitor Center, and enhancements to the landscape around the Alishan Sacred Tree. In 104 (2015), electric minibuses were introduced, marking a new era for guided tours within the park.
