EVA Air cancels 50 flights; 808 travelers from 28 Taiwan tour groups stranded in Japan unable to return

On the 30th, due to Typhoon Nesat and flight crew scheduling, EVA Air temporarily canceled about 50 round-trip flights, affecting more than 10,000 inbound and outbound passengers. Among tour groups and individual travelers, those traveling to Japan were more significantly impacted. According to the Tourism Bureau, approximately 21 tour groups and 590 people had their trips canceled, while another 28 groups and 808 people are temporarily stranded and unable to return to Taiwan.

Preliminary information from the Tourism Bureau indicates that, as of noon, due to EVA Air's inability to schedule flights, travel agencies including Wufu, Sanfu International, Daxing, Lion Travel, Kanghui, and lN Jia have canceled tour groups to Japan, involving about 21 groups and 590 people. Additionally, 28 groups and 808 people are stranded and temporarily unable to return.

The Tourism Bureau stated that all travel agencies are currently assigning staff to handle the cancellation and refund procedures for tour groups, and are also arranging accommodation and meals for travelers stranded in Japan. The Tourism Bureau has also urged all relevant travel agencies to clearly and thoroughly inform travelers about follow-up arrangements and to ensure the safety and proper care of those stranded, reporting any issues immediately.
