Hate being sandwiched on a plane? This airline promises not to seat women in the middle

Many people dislike being assigned middle seats on flights. According to the UK’sDaily Telegraph, to ensure women can travel with peace of mind, Vistara, an airline based in New Delhi, India, pledges to offer window or aisle seats to female solo travelers. In addition to prioritizing seat selection, Vistara also provides assistance with luggage and transportation.

Since March, Vistara has offered a free service allowing female passengers to choose their seats in advance. Even without prior seat reservations, women will not be assigned middle seats. The airline also promises to provide luggage and transport assistance for female solo travelers.

Upon arrival at their destination, female travelers will also see“#VistaraWomanFlyer”signage and can request assistance from airline staff to have their luggage delivered to the taxi waiting area. This free service must be booked via email at least 72 hours before departure.

So far, the airline estimates that 75 to 100 women use the service daily. While it may seem a bit trivial, this service is indeed meaningful for female tourists traveling alone to countries with safety concerns.
