Fluorescent SUP Launches on Penghu’s Glowing Seas – Feels Like Being in ‘Life of Pi’

On a summer evening, with a warm breeze blowing, I sat on a SUP and paddled toward Penghu’s Rainbow Bridge across the sea. It was the most magical time of the day, with the harbor waters perfectly still. The reflection of the Rainbow Bridge made the entire structure appear in a perfect arc shape. As I paddled forward, I passed through the rainbow bridge in the water, with glowing lights beneath my feet.

“Fluorescent SUP,” which officially launched this summer in Penghu, is the brainchild of Yi Ming, owner of “Floating Denai SUP Surf Shop.” Inspired by overseas examples, he worked with manufacturers to develop LED tubes that change colors and are installed on the boards. As you paddle on the water, the color of the water changes along with them.
