Romantic to the max: Kaohsiung’s “Shoushan Lover’s Viewing Platform” unveils a rose garden

After a one-month renovation, Kaohsiung’s Shoushan Lover’s Viewing Platform has finally reopened. The revamped platform now features more romantic-themed landscaping elements around the area, allowing future visitors to enjoy the stunning views of Kaohsiung Harbor in the most romantic atmosphere possible.

Since its launch in 2013, the Shoushan Lover’s Viewing Platform has attracted numerous visitors, both day and night, thanks to its breathtaking panoramic views of downtown Kaohsiung and the harbor. Especially at night, it draws couples eager to take in the city lights. The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau specifically positioned it as a top destination for romantic dates and wedding photoshoots, installing couple-themed art installations such as the “LOVE Message Tube,” as well as three macaque stone sculptures symbolizing the different stages of love—pursuit, passion, and union.

However, due to the increasing number of visitors and the difficulty in maintaining the lawn and flowers, which were often trampled, the Tourism Bureau has repaved the original stone path and expanded the walking area to make it easier for visitors to take photos and enjoy the scenery. Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that the renovated viewing platform now features distinctive spherical-shaped lime trees and Fujian tea plants as hedges, along with rose bushes symbolizing romance, creating a sweet and loving ambiance.

But while enjoying the romantic healing charm brought by the beautiful scenery, the Tourism Bureau also reminds visitors to show public spirit by cherishing the plants and following regulations to avoid littering, so everyone can help maintain the high-quality environment of this tourist attraction.
